So, if you're here it's obvious that there haven't been too many updates and that production hasn't even made a new page in the third chapter after a summer long hiatus.
Truth be told there are many new projects for me to work on, and many new comics to unfold, but I would like to keep going on Asteroider or at least give it the time and attention it deserves.
Until I can give more thought to this world and its characters you can check out the classic adventures here: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2
If you'd like to see what I've been working on lately then feel free to drop by here: http://pumpkencomics.blogspot.com/
Thanks for checking in regularly and supporting me, it's been great,

Sisterhood
So, another week goes by with a little more progress. There are 24 pages in a standard comic with an inside title page and cover art (so technically 26). I'm posting the first 8 thumbs (or smaller pages) just to prove I'm working on it all at once.
We're going to take a look at what happened in the year (or almost a year) of Barbara's absence since she's been gone from the surface of the planet and what she left behind. We know nothing about her life before coming to this planet, who raised her, who her friends were and who her family was (or who she considered family).
There has to be more than one reason for joining a galactic military force, right?

Talking Heads
With two books completed but not yet at the level I want, it's time to change things up for how I update. So for now not every update will be a fully finished comic page but there will be concept art, character studies, scenery art and updates on layout progress.
It's time to start completing pages and concentrating on finished books rather than just a page a week. It kept me responsible to working on it, and I didn't think I could finish one book let alone keep it up for a year. However now that I KNOW I can do this, I want to improve the quality. Plus, maybe I can start working on other comics with other artists and writers to help get perspective and improve as a storyteller. So, let me have this.
There will always be something here every Thursday, just expect more filler and maybe some straight-up text entries. Nothing really changes, except this page goes back to being more of a blog than a webcomic... which is all it really was in the first place.
Jokes aside I do appreciate all the viewers, input and support I've been getting. Thanks for everything.
TLDR: Less full comics, more concepts, more filler, better pages.

Chapter 2: Another Book Boogaloo~
If you told me a year ago that I'd have 2 books self published then I'd call you a crazy person. Then I would apologize and say that it's ok and I'm not really mad at you, it's just... *ahem*
This book is at a smaller size of the A5 standard variety through lulu.com (which I think is closer to a sort of European booklet sizing). It's the closest I could get to being half the original size due to only web quality images being salvageable and the quality isn't the best, but it's all there and collected and pretty sweet.
Download it for free here:

Yes, there are crazy borders and yes certain spread pages are split unevenly, but you know what? It's here because of the support of anyone kind enough to check it out, and I am truly thankful for that.

A Glimse of the End
I'm not a fan of excuses but I will say that my current laptop from 2006
does not work as fast or as well as my desktop did before the crash.
Also this update is a two page spread, so it still would have taken twice as long in
any case. However, I would like to post some of the progress.
I wanted the "central" Imp village to be a massive gathering place, something with scale. There were concepts for different types of communes and structures made out of various types of foliage, but the grand gathering of the oldest and tallest trees was the end result.
I didn't want a man-made looking structure assembled out of vines and trees since these creatures are just NOW adapting to one being on the planet, and I also didn't want to make it mushroom huts, sawn tree houses, or just one big "home tree" (see: Peter Jackson's 'Avatar'). Their society is similar in social structure to chimps/apes but with an oligarchy-like council and written language, so they hide in the tallest trees and split their resources/abilities.
The base colors start off as more green, but there are plans to appeal to a myriad of colors. This is the home of different seasonal Imps on an alien planet. I'm happy with the perspective on the trees, and the vines are not finished at all, but a little thickening for closer ones can solve that easily.
There's a great deal of detail to be added and some major tweaks and refining to do on the outlines/positioning of the characters, but it's a good start and hopefully one more week until I can be back up to standard updates and a release for the second chapter.
Thanks for checking in.
